Job Summary:
Under general supervision and according to well-defined policies and procedures, interviews patients and/or patients’ representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic, and financial information and identification. Performs computer data entry and other record-keeping tasks related to the patients’ registration within the registration areas. Exhibits Service Excellence Standards at all times, and incorporates into all interactions.

Job Essentials:
- Register patients in the computer system, collect demographic, financial, and insurance information, obtain required signatures, and ensure all records are complete and accurate.
- Verify, copy, and scan patient identification, insurance cards, and signed documents into the Document Imaging system while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide professional customer service by communicating effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff, assisting with directions, and handling phone calls courteously.
- Process financial responsibilities by collecting required deposits/payments, making referrals to Credit Representatives or the Cashier's Office, obtaining insurance pre-certifications, and complying with EMTALA regulations.
- Maintain an organized registration and waiting area while participating in quality assurance initiatives and ongoing performance improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with professional appearance.
- Ability to function independently.
- Clerical, data entry and typing skills including filing and record keeping.
- Some knowledge of computer systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that has frequent changes in priorities.
Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent or minimum of 5 years related experience required.
- One or more years of registration or related clerical/health care experience is preferred when accompanied with HS Diploma or equivalent.
