About this role

Job Purpose:


The Payroll Accounting Clerk supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll while assisting with general accounting functions. This role ensures payroll data integrity, compliance with applicable regulations, and proper recording of payroll-related transactions along with accounting related transactions within the general ledger. The position works closely with the Payroll Specialist and Accounting team to maintain efficient financial operations.

 

Responsibilities and Associated Duties:


  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll on a regular cycle (weekly, biweekly, etc.)
  • Record payroll-related journal entries and assist with general ledger reconciliation.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, including wages payable, tax liabilities, and benefits accounts
  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable tasks as needed
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audit purposes
  • Support payroll specialist with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Protect ACW assets and values by maintaining confidential information and enforcing internal controls

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or a related role
  • Basic understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/payroll systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Must work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Unquestionable integrity
