Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a North Fork Mono Casinos' Team Members. This includes managing timekeeping, processing payroll data, maintaining employee profiles, handling deductions and taxes, and addressing payroll inquiries. This position also plays a role in preparing payroll reports and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures. This position will report directly to the Payroll Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting North Fork Mono Casino's culture and always demonstrating exemplary Service Standards.
- Accurately and timely process bi-weekly payroll for casino Team Members, including wages, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits.
- Manage and maintain timekeeping systems, including time and attendance records, and address timekeeping errors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Team Member payroll records, including profiles, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Prepare and audit payroll reports, reconcile payroll with other accounting records, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Respond to Team Member inquiries regarding payroll, including questions about paychecks, deductions, and tax withholding.
- Research and provide information on all Verification of Employment, Court Orders, and Garnishments.
- Assist with special projects related to payroll, such as new hire setups, termination processing, and benefits administration.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and protect employee data.
- Handle the processing of employee tips, including daily tip drop exceptions and reconciliation.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
- Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in payroll processing.
- Must be able to communicate effectively under both positive and negative circumstances with Team Members and agencies.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws in California.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year payroll clerical experience required; casino/gaming experience preferred.
- Experience with ADP a plus.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Commission, which includes passing a background investigation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- All work is performed on site in Madera, CA.
- Requires manual dexterity to perform job related functions.
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for the duration of their shift.
Work Conditions:
Team Members will be in constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests. Work includes the maintenance and care of the assigned work area. Work is typically performed in an office environment. However, work may be in an area, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain secondhand smoke. Work may be performed in a confined area. Work may be scheduled at various hours, including working overtime, and during evening, weekends, and holidays. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Work is in a high volume, fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
