We’re hiring a Pharmacist – Inpatient Supplemental to support our patients by providing safe, accurate, and timely pharmaceutical care. In this role, you’ll partner closely with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize medication therapy, enhance medication safety, and support positive patient outcomes across our services.
Work Schedule
Saturday-Sunday, every 3rd weekend | Day/evening rotating, 7am-3:30pm or 2pm-10:30pm | Rotating holiday requirement included | On-call as needed | Opportunity to pick up additional shifts 7 days a week
What you’ll do
- Review and verify medication orders to ensure. accuracy, appropriateness, and safety for each patient
- Design and adjust therapeutic regimens and monitoring plans.
- Prepare and dispense medications through accurate compounding, packaging, and labeling in compliance with all regulations.
- Serve as a trusted drug therapy resource by consulting with patients and care teams on dosing, interactions, side effects, and safe medication use.
- Document clinical pharmacy activities and interventions clearly and accurately in the medical record.
Who you are
- A licensed Pharmacist with experience and strong interest in acute care practice
- Knowledgeable in clinical pharmacotherapy and evidence-based medication management
- Comfortable collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care
- Effective communicator who values education and shared decision-making
Department Description
The pharmacy department provides decentralized clinical services to all inpatients and works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses throughout the institution to provide care to patients with a diverse range of clinical problems. WakeMed Health & Hospitals offers a blend of both structured teaching services with medical residents from WakeMed, the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and medical students from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as multidisciplinary rounding services. Services with traditional medical teaching rounds include internal medicine, medical ICU, general pediatrics, and pediatric ICU. Other services with multidisciplinary rounds include cardiothoracic ICU, cardiovascular ICU, neonatal ICU, surgery/trauma ICU, neuro ICU, advanced heart failure, and antimicrobial stewardship.
