Job Summary

To evaluate and treat patients with diseases, injuries, disorders, and disabilities, to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance. 

This will be a full-time position on the Cardiovascular Acute Care PT Team. We are looking for therapists interested in a variety of patient populations that include Orthopedic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Medicine, Cardiology, and Pulmonary Medicine. We have a structured orientation process for each new area with ongoing mentoring by both Senior Therapists and APTA Board Certified Specialists in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy.

Required Qualifications*

  • If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS.
  • If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT).
  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  • This position requires Primary Source Verification.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Demonstrated proficiency in patient treatment.
  • Experience in an acute care setting at an academic medical center or large tertiary hospital; new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered.

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

Schedule to be determined but will include one weekend day as part of the regular schedule, plus occasional holidays.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
