Duties

You will respond to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service during watch; respond to and conduct preliminary investigations relating to incidents aboard installations.,You will gather and analyze the facts, seizes and protects evidence, takes statements, makes diagrams, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determine if facts warrant apprehension/detention or lesser actions.,You will perform law enforcement duties at fixed posts throughout the installation.,You will check identification cards, badges and/or vehicle decals as well as vehicles. Inspect packages and personal belongings when admitting personnel into controlled areas.,You will set-up and conduct checkpoints/roadblocks at various locations throughout the installation.,You will perform traffic law control and enforcement; direct movement of vehicles/pedestrians and observe and report traffic safety hazards.

Qualifications

GS-07 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: maintaining order and protecting life and property; responding to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service during the watch; subduing and disarming those who are doing violence to other persons; conducting investigative stops; gathering and analyzing facts; seizing and protecting evidence; interviewing witnesses and taking statements; conducting preliminary investigations; advising violators of rights; processing accident scene; determining whether facts warrant apprehension/detention or lesser action, and presenting evidence in court. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations; knowledge of law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques; knowledge of maintaining order and protecting life and property, respond to complaints or calls for service or emergencies, or gathering and analyzing facts, or enforcing traffic laws or issuing citations for violations of law GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing a basic knowledge of laws and regulations; law enforcement procedures and operations in performing routine, recurring kinds of fixed post assignments, regulating access to buildings, governing rights of individuals, conducting security perimeter patrol. GS-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least 6 months of generalized experience demonstrating the following: protecting property, equipment, data or materials; or that involved making judgements based on the application of directions, rules, regulations or laws; AND an additional 6 months of specialized expereince: regulating building access, or conducting security perimeter patrols, or inspecting packages, vehicles or personal belongings prior to admission into controlled areas. GS-03: Your resume must demonstrate 6 months of generalized experience demonstrating the following: experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. Education

No substitution of education or training may be made for the required specialized experience at the GS-06 level or above. GS-05: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. OR Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one-year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal to one hundred percent. GS-04: Successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law or similar subjects closely related to police work. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position OR A combination of specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal 100 percent. GS-03: Successfully completed one year of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 6 semester hours of study pertinent to police work. OR Possess a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one-year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal to one hundred percent.

Other Information

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be 18 years of age. Incumbent must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation. As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, you must be able to train and wear protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots, and gloves. This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H. You must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
