Duties

Conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property.,Develops and follows leads, takes statements, and gathers information and facts.,Performs surveillance of suspects, crime scenes, and suspected or potential criminal activities.,Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation.,Ensures that the audit trail is complete from initial receipt to final disposition of the case.,Accompanies significant evidence or exhibits to court and testifies concerning the chain of custody and assurance of non-compromise.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized defined as: Assisting in performing investigative and law enforcement duties in support of criminal and administrative investigations; gathering and analyzing information from multiple sources to assist in case development; identifying and collecting evidence to support investigative leads; participating in interviewing witnesses and/or suspects to obtain detailed facts and collaborating with partner agencies to coordinate and share relevant information to solve criminal and administrative cases for and organization. This specialized experience is equivalent to work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Decision Making Investigation and Reporting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
