Job Title: Powder Coater - Machine Operator
SUMMARY: Individuals in this position paint company products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Paint company products with powdered paint using an airless spray gun
- Maintain equipment and adjust as needed to ensure a quality product
- Understand all paint equipment including powder oven and liquid paint equipment
- Wear respirator and can perform all duties associated with wearing this equipment
- Work independently with little direction
- Read and understand Job Operation Listing Report
- Accurately enter job transactions using shop floor data collection devices
- Follow written work instructions and complete required quality documents
- Perform required quality checks
- Load and unload powder coat oven line
- Organize paperwork and ensure proper identification of product
- Proper wanding of jobs
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment assessment testing
- Able to read a tape measure within 1/16”
- Required to pass the initial and annual Respirator Medical Evaluation and Respirator Fit Test
- 1 year of powder coat experience, including basic understanding of powder coat oven operation and airless spray gun usage preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Basic reading and writing proficiency
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding and printing documents
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee will be exposed to materials that have SDS sheets but are not life threatening. Employee will be required to be fitted and wear a respirator as required. Employee will be required to wear dust mask while in the powder coat spray booth.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is an industrial metal fabrication shop with exposure to machinery, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level in the non-air-conditioned work environment is usually moderate. All required PPE, including steel toe shoes, must be worn and a clean work environment must be maintained.
