Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

Pay Range: $ 21.00-$25.00; including shift premium $ 24.15-$28.75 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).

Position Summary

The Powder Production Team Lead supports the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of the powder manufacturing process by providing day-to-day leadership and direction to production team members while actively participating in production activities. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring adherence to established procedures and quality standards, and fostering collaboration with Quality Control and Plant Leadership to meet production objectives.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to production team members to promote safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for production team members in the absence of the Shift Supervisor. 
  • Monitor and audit production processes to ensure compliance with work instructions, setup procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. 
  • Partner with the Quality Control Department to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product quality concerns. 
  • Support efficient production operations by maximizing equipment uptime and assisting with all aspects of the manufacturing process as needed. 
  • Read, interpret, and accurately follow batch ticket instructions and production specifications. 
  • Measure, weigh, and stage raw materials using scales and other equipment to ensure accurate batch preparation. 
  • Complete all required production records, batch documentation, and ERP system transactions accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Develop proficiency in production scheduling processes and provide backup support for the Manufacturing Coordinator when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; perform equipment cleaning and follow all housekeeping procedures. 
  • Comply with all safety, quality, and workplace policies and regulations. 
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with established procedures and training provided by the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in manufacturing, operations, or a related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum of one year of manufacturing experience preferred, including experience operating or learning production equipment such as extruders, mills, mixers, or related machinery. 
  • Previous experience providing team leadership, training, or work direction in a manufacturing environment is preferred.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and support team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and adapt to changing production demands. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter and retrieve information from ERP and production systems. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow specifications, procedures, and documentation requirements. 
  • Basic mathematical skills, including measurements, conversions, and calculations related to production processes. 
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and common tools. 
  • Forklift certification is preferred; ability to safely operate a pallet jack is required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
