About this role

The Personalization team makes deciding what to play next easier and more enjoyable for every listener. From Blend to Discover Weekly, we're behind some of Spotify's most-loved features. We built them by understanding the world of music and podcasts better than anyone else. Join us and you'll keep millions of users listening by making great recommendations to each and every one of them.

Spotify transformed how the world listens. Now we're helping shape how the world discovers. Every day, hundreds of millions of listeners come to Spotify to enjoy music, podcasts, and audiobooks. As our experience continues to evolve, we're focused on helping people build lasting habits that deepen their relationship with audio over time.

We're looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead our Habit Formation strategy within the Surfaces Studio. In this highly strategic role, you'll define how Spotify helps listeners discover new experiences, develop lasting engagement, and build meaningful habits across formats, devices, and moments throughout their day.

Spotify transformed how the world listens. Now we're transforming how the world discovers. With over 600 million users, Home is the surface listeners open first — where they meet the music, podcasts, and audio they'll love next. We're reimagining Home for an AI-native age: not a static feed, but an agentic experience that understands intent, takes action, and adapts in real time. This is a defining role for the next era of Spotify's consumer product. As Principal Product Manager for Agentic Surfaces, you'll own the agentic future of Home — our most valuable surface — with a mandate that extends to other surfaces as the strategy matures. A central part of this role is shaping how Spotify's personalization stack evolves in an AI-native age. You'll make clear-eyed strategic calls about where our established recommendation stack continues to play a durable role, and where we deprecate it in favor of new technologies (agents and the Large Personalization Model) balancing ambition against reliability for a surface hundreds of millions of people depend on every day. You'll help define what product management means in an AI-native age, where the work shifts from designing screens to orchestrating agents. You'll set the standard for how Spotify builds agentic products and bring the rest of the studio along with you. This role demands rare range: the product taste to sweat the craft of an experience hundreds of millions of people touch daily, the technical depth to partner with ML engineers and researchers on what's actually possible, and the organizational gravity to align senior leadership across a large, distributed org around a bold vision.

What You'll Do
  • Define the long-term vision, strategy, roadmap, and execution for Habit Formation across Spotify's consumer experience.
  • Build the behavioral intelligence that helps identify when listeners are ready to discover new formats, features, or experiences.
  • Partner with engineering, machine learning, design, research, and data science to build experiences powered by behavioral insights and experimentation.
  • Translate advances in AI, recommendation models, and intelligent agents into intuitive consumer experiences that millions of listeners love.
  • Develop systems that encourage sustainable engagement while ensuring teams work together instead of competing for user attention.
  • Influence the evolution of Spotify's surfaces, information architecture, and product experiences to reinforce lasting listening habits.
  • Use experimentation, behavioral analysis, and user research to identify opportunities and make informed product decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Set clear product direction, make thoughtful prioritization decisions, and align senior leaders around a shared strategy.
  • Drive execution across multiple engineering teams while balancing quality, speed, user trust, and long-term business impact.
  • Establish Habit Formation as a strategic product capability that enables sustainable growth across Spotify.

  • Who You Are
  • You have 10+ years of product management experience building consumer products at significant global scale.
  • You have successfully built products that create sustained behavior change and long-term user engagement.
  • You have deep experience with experimentation, behavioral analytics, product metrics, and quantitative decision making.
  • You know how to partner closely with engineering, machine learning, data science, research, and design teams.
  • You have experience shaping strategy across multiple products, platforms, or consumer experiences.
  • You have demonstrated success aligning senior stakeholders around ambitious product visions within complex organizations.
  • You care deeply about product quality and the details that create exceptional customer experiences.
  • You balance emerging technologies with proven approaches and exercise strong judgment when making investment decisions.
  • You make thoughtful decisions in ambiguous situations and take ownership for outcomes.
  • You communicate clearly, influence effectively, and build trusted relationships across teams.
  • You have experience with personalization, recommender systems, or machine learning-powered consumer products.
  • You have explored behavioral science or habit formation principles and understand how they can improve product experiences.
  • You have experience building AI-powered, LLM, or agentic consumer products at production scale.
  • You have helped evolve product measurement beyond traditional engagement metrics toward more meaningful customer outcomes.
  • You are comfortable exploring data, prototyping ideas, and using evidence to accelerate learning.
  • You are passionate about audio, discovery, and creating experiences that help people build lasting relationships with content.

  • Where You'll Be
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North America region as long as we have a work location
  • This team operates within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration
