Position: Process Assistant (Finish Mill & Kiln)

Reports to: Process Supervisor

Shift: Rotating Shift (7am or 7pm start time, 12 hour shifts)

Pay: $22-$26/hour based on experience

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • Monitor all equipment in plant, such as temperatures, pressures, and oil levels.             
  •  Assist with repairs during shutdowns.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor  

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required 
  • Must have plant experience or knowledge of finish mill and kiln and its operation.
  • Ability to communicate with all plant personnel no matter what conditions they are in, such as noisy areas.
  • Must be able to operate a tractor trailer rig and be able to read and understand the operators manual.
  • Able to work rotating shift including 12-hour nights and days
  • Must be able to work with all supervisors and keep them informed of plant situations.
  • Must be able to correct problems as they arise.
  • Must be able to learn the operations of the plant and be able to assist in the training of the crewmembers.
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Must be able to complete training in a timely manner
  • Able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds when needed. 
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 100 feet when needed.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces for long extended periods of time.
  • Able to carry 5-gallon cans up stairs
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as bobcats and loaders and understand operator manual to assist in cleanup.
  • Ability to work with hand tools such as shovel, jackhammer, pry bar, and hoe to unplug chutes.

 

What to expect in a cement environment: 

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
