WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
This position supports the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in accomplishing its mission by primarily performing the following tasks:
  • Administrating leases for rural trooper housing units, trooper posts, and other facilities including drafting leases, completing renewals, and submitting new lease requests

  • Completing small DOT and DOA procurements in accordance with the State of Alaska Procurement Code and DPS policies and procedures

  • Administrating the damage deposit process in conjunction with the rural trooper housing team

  • Assisting the Procurement Specialist 5, Facilities Manager, and Procurement Specialist 3 with special projects as-needed

The Division of Administrative Services provides management assistance to the Commissioner and administrative support to all divisions in the department. Centralized administrative support includes operating/capital budgeting, financial management, procurement, property control, maintenance/construction and repair requests, leasing, grants and contracts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, interagency agreements, budget coordination, and warehouse operations.

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field performing property control, purchasing, contract administration, writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for professional services.

BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.  Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
