Job Summary
ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC’s prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company’s position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2024, the company held over 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin.During 2024, net production averaged 775 MBOED.
Position Overview
The Production Accounting Analyst plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable production data that supports operational decision‑making, financial reporting, and business performance. This position partners closely with Operations, Asset teams, and Finance to analyze daily production volumes, investigate variances, and maintain high data quality across multiple reporting systems.
In this role, you will translate field production activity into clear, actionable insights used by leadership and business partners. You will contribute to month‑end close activities, support regulatory and internal reporting needs, and help improve reporting tools and workflows. This position offers hands‑on exposure to upstream operations, strong visibility across the business, and opportunities to grow technical, analytical, and cross‑functional skills within a collaborative team environment.
This position may be filled in Midland, TX; Carlsbad, NM; or Loving, NM.
Your responsibilities may include:
Consolidate and analyze daily oil, gas, and water production volumes to support operational and financial reporting needs.
Identify, analyze, and clearly communicate daily production variances to Operations and Asset teams, helping surface root causes and potential impacts.
Maintain production data accuracy by monitoring data quality, resolving issues, and coordinating timely data feeds into reporting and accounting systems.
Partner with Asset teams and Finance to deliver daily, weekly, and month‑end production reports and related deliverables on schedule.
Coordinate day‑to‑day and month‑end reporting activities with Permian Finance and Permian Production Revenue Accounting (PRA), ensuring alignment and data consistency.
Build, maintain, and enhance production reports and dashboards using data visualization and analytics tools such as Spotfire and Power BI to improve visibility and decision‑making.
Provide responsive, ad‑hoc production data analysis and reporting support to Operations, Finance, and management as business needs arise.
Contribute to continuous improvement by helping standardize workflows, improve reporting processes, and document best practices.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
1 or more years’ relevant experience in production accounting, production reporting, operations support, or data analysis within the oil and gas industry.
Demonstrated ability to work with production or operational data, including validating, analyzing, and explaining variances.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data review techniques.
Preferred Requirements
Associate degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience using industry production or accounting systems such as Field Data Gathering (FDG), Avocet, ProCount, or ProdView.
Experience with data visualization or reporting tools such as Spotfire or Power BI.
Demonstrated ability to improve workflows, standardize processes, or support reporting enhancements.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet recurring deadlines.
Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Operations, Finance, and technical teams.
Initiative and ownership mindset, with a focus on accuracy, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
