Minimum Qualifications:

  1.  Possess an LMSW from the Michigan Board of Examiners of Social Workers,  possess an LPC from the Michigan Board of Licensing and Regulations of  Counselors, or have a limited license or be fully licensed as a Psychologist from the Michigan Board of Examiners of Psychologists. 
  2. Have had at least five (5) years of full-time casework experience or therapy  experience. Including have had at least two (2) years of supervisory experience  in a substance use disorder, or mental health setting Must include one (1) year experience working within acute care/ crisis services. 
  3. Must be experienced and knowledgeable in current practices including, but not limited to, person centered planning, community-based services and supports available for adults and families, crisis intervention and transitional planning. 
  4.  Possess a valid motor vehicle operator or chauffeur's license. 
  5. Must possess knowledge and understanding of co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse); stages of change (transtheoretical model); phases  of recovery; and motivational interviewing/enhancement therapy. Knowledgeable with Dual Diagnosis capability for substance use and mental health programs. 
  6. Familiar with a variety of outcome measure for psychiatric and co-occurring substance use, medical and other disorders. 
  7. Experience working with criminal justice system preferred. 
  8. MCBAP Certification with CAADC and CCS Preferred. 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Demonstrate the knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychiatric and substance use disorders and treatment options. 
  2. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the array of behavioral health and substance use disorder crisis services available within the community.
  3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of crisis intervention strategies.
  4. Responsible for managing all administrative and programmatic functions related to program(s) assigned
  5. Enforces agency policies and procedures. Develops new procedures to support the Mission, Vision and Values of Easterseals MORC.
  6. Develop and maintain protocols and toolkits including behavioral health and substance use crisis intervention techniques for each discipline within the team.
  7. Conducts team meetings to review problem areas and develop solutions. Reviews case records with subordinate staff to ensure quality. 
  8. Instructs, assigns, schedules, checks and appraises performance. Hires and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary action and discharge, pay increases and/or promotions.
  9. Create and maintain staff schedules ensuring adequate coverage during Behavioral Health Urgent Care hours which will include extended hours (some evenings and weekends).
  10. Demonstrate the ability to identify stage of change and use interventions consistent with stage of treatment. Assist staff in developing strength-based, stage wise treatment matched crisis intervention, treatment plans, and aftercare that are designed to address identified individual needs. Prevent unnecessary emergency department visits by ensuring the provision of evidenced-based, appropriate, comprehensive, and satisfactory Behavioral Health Urgent Care services.
  11. Ensure individuals receiving Behavioral Health Urgent Care are provided with appropriate aftercare plans and ensure follow up activities occur with individuals after the completion of the BHUC encounter. 
  12. Oversee and deliver acute care/crisis intervention for a complex population of members in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team model .
  13. Effective supervision and leadership of clinical care within interdisciplinary team, ensuring highest quality of care.  
  14. Model and use the Spirit of Motivational Interviewing in all interactions with staff, individuals and stakeholders.
  15. Provides outcome and strength-based supervision to staff utilizing a range of supervision techniques to foster professional development and performance, develop skill sets and increase individual outcomes. Conduct clinical case reviews that are competency based, strength based, culturally relevant and focus on improving individual outcomes. (i.e. utilize motivational interviewing with staff- direct, follow, guide approach.)
  16. Assists staff in improving and updating professional skills by providing them with information such as pertinent conferences and seminars, new techniques in the field and current and pending legislation affecting behavioral health and substance use disorder services. Orients and develops new staff.
  17. Acts as a liaison with other Management Team members, community agencies, advocacy groups, and other mental health and substance use service providers, maintaining an awareness of the full range of human services available in the community to support individual needs.
  18. Identifies monitors and conducts improvement strategies based on program outcome measurements, adherence to contractual and budget standards, licensing and accreditation standards for employees and programs. Able to utilize outcome measurements in supervision including developmental tools to improve staff performance.
  19. Provide support, education, and reinforce the use of prescribed medications to treat substance use and behavioral health disorders.
  20. Knowledgeable of evidence-based practices utilized within Easterseals MORC, particularly those that can be employed in the Behavioral Health Urgent Care setting. 
  21. Full compliance with developing and monitoring PIP’s in accordance with the Supervision Policy.
  22. Monthly supervision/coaching requirements met for all staff assigned as defined by Supervision Guidelines.
  23. Full compliance in completing annual performance evaluations .
  24. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care. Teach and ensure use of trauma informed care principles to the interdisciplinary treatment team. 
  25. Willingness to support and assist individuals with trauma related issues.
  26. Participate after hours on call as required.
