Major Responsibilities

- Under general direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform difficult and complex administrative work for the Bronx Borough Commissioner.
- Manage the Bronx Borough Commissioner’s calendar strategically to maintain an efficient and effective schedule, exercising sound judgment in prioritizing competing demands, independently handling frequent reprioritization and coordinating meeting and appointments accordingly.
- Initiate and coordinate meetings and conference calls and prepare necessary materials.
- Utilize data provided by the Bronx Borough Commissioner and Borough Commissioner’s staff to create and maintain spreadsheets and charts.
- Assign and review briefing materials, PowerPoint presentations and reports for the Bronx Borough Commissioner.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and other logistics for key meetings and other activities in collaboration with office staff and other divisions.
- Direct and maintain information flow to the Bronx Borough Commissioner for timely response.
- Organize files and materials for review.
- Research, prioritize and follow up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Bronx Borough Commissioner and recommend an appropriate course of action, referral or response.
- On behalf of the Bronx Borough Commissioner, communicate directly with all divisions, other city agencies and key agency partners.
- Assist in gathering information and preparing correspondence on behalf of the Bronx Borough Commissioner and the Borough.
- Draft correspondence and respond to constituents, elected officials, community boards and others on behalf of the Bronx Borough Commissioner before established deadlines. Following up and closing out correspondence in the tracking system.
- Provide general office support: assist with copying, answering phones, maintaining files and other duties.
- Assist the Bronx Borough Commissioner and Borough Commissioners staff with special projects as needed.

COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058

Qualifications:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
