Brief Job Description:

Involves establishing goals and objectives for successful healthcare mandate and grant activities' implementation and assessment; developing operationally-defined guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; coordinating schedules, priorities, and clear standards for achieving established goals; evaluating and continuing education of Team activities; developing and evaluating budget requests and budget expenditures. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others, stepping in as needed to support team and do what is necessary to produce high quality, professional, and well-written products; responsible for personnel needs. Works under supervision of the Unit Director and closely with internal and external colleagues, with strong initiative and independent judgment required.
NOTE: This position is funded through July 31, 2027, and possibly longer pending CDC grant awards.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

(35%) Manages several team leaders and 14 to 20 data and training subject matter staff (some may be contractors) on high profile and high impact public-facing work. Establishes goals, objectives, and budgets associated with federal and state statutes and grants for the purpose of infectious disease education, reporting, and prevention. Develops and approves schedules and priorities for completing high visibility deliverables to improve awareness and prevention of healthcare-associated infections, preventable healthcare events (e.g., injuries), and using data-driven strategies to inform Unit activities. Writes accessible products using plain language for Unit grants, memoranda of agreement, and contracts managed by the Unit. Prepares responses to audits and other reporting and monitoring requirements related to these activities. Develops and evaluates budget requests, monitors budget expenditures, and adjusts as necessary to ensure Unit is best steward of Texas taxpayer dollars. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations related to management of grant and statute deliverables, general revenue budgets, cooperative agreements, and contracts. Prepares and/or provides technical guidance related to legislative requests, fiscal impact statements, exceptional items, general revenue budgets, cooperative agreements, and contracts managed by the Unit. Work commonly requires working under pressure with limited time and competing priorities, guiding a team of staff to complete excellent work. Knowledge Skills Abilities: Skills writing concise, plain language, and accessible work products, such as email, task plans, manuscripts, policies, grant deliverables, and presentations. Skill in operating standardized data and reporting systems, such as medical records, RedCap, NEDSS, NHSN, CDC Reporting. Ability to establish operationalized, clearcut goals and objectives related to infectious disease reporting and prevention. |

Initial Selection Criteria: 2. Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred. 3. Attention to detail and technical writing skills (per application and communications). 4. Minimum 2 years in public health, healthcare, government, or federal grants. |
