POSITION DESCRIPTION This position is for the Nuclear Operations Quality Assurance Lead which is comprised of the Transuranic Waste Processing Center and ORNL Nuclear Operations. In this role you will lead a team of quality engineers responsible ensuring the compliant execution of our Quality Assurance (QA) Program. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of quality assurance programs that are compliant with DOE O 414.1, Quality Assurance, and ASME NQA-1, Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications. In this role will serve as the subject matter expert, providing guidance and direction to your team and interfacing with various projects to ensure compliant execution of work scope.
SUMMARY: The Quality Engineering job family plans and directs activities to develop, maintain, and advise on the implementation of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program. Quality assurance includes all those planned and systematic actions necessary to assure implementation using a graded approach of the QA Rule (10 CFR 830, Subpart A, Quality Assurance Requirements) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 414.1, Quality Assurance, using AMSE NQA-1 as the national consensus nuclear standard and other commercial quality standards in the planning and execution of work. The Quality Engineering job family consists of Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Functional Quality Assurance, Field Quality Engineering, Quality Control Inspection, and the associated management chain. Job-Related Qualifications Required: | |||
Grade 25
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, quality control management or engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or other related technical field or demonstrated equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in area of specialization. Preparation for auditor certificate or equivalent strongly desired.
Grade 26
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, quality control management or engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or other related technical field or demonstrated equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in area of specialization. May hold lead auditor certification or equivalent.
Grade 27
Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, quality control management or engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or other related technical field or demonstrated equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
Experience: 12+ years of experience in area of specialization. Auditor/lead auditor certification desired.
