About the Position: Fort Stewart is the largest Department of Defense installation east of the Mississippi River, covering approximately 280,000 acres across five Georgia counties. Located near Hinesville, Georgia, it serves as a premier power projection platform for the U.S. Army.

Duties

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and sustain in an operational status, a variety of target systems and components of systems.
  • Operate computer-controlled target systems console and execute scenario sequences for operations.
  • Operate and perform maintenance (to include operator level troubleshooting and making authorized repair/ replacements) on AC/DC powered target devices.
  • Conduct operator level maintenance on Stationary Infantry Targets, Moving Infantry Targets, Stationary Armor Targets, and Moving Armor Targets.
  • Operate and maintain vehicle(s) assigned to the organization.
  • Cut grass, clean target pits, reshape target berms, service batteries, service target devices, and remove debris from training ranges.
  • Perform basic carpentry work as required.
  • Perform inspecting, cleaning, servicing, preserving, lubricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, testing duties; and making authorized repair/ replacements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Range Maintenance Technician (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Range Maintenance Technician (Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks. I can perform a variety of maintenance tasks on ranges, facilities, or training areas. I can perform repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure proper and safe operation, as well as perform basic carpentry work. I can make mechanical adjustments to a variety of systems or components. I can operate common power and hand tools, as well as other electrical devices, to perform simple maintenance tasks. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, trenches, and hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work requires climbing up and down a steep flight of stairs to perform assignments. Frequently lifts and carries equipment and parts that weigh up to 45 pounds. Working Conditions: Works primarily outside, in dirt, dust and mud. Is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in windy or cold weather. Is occasionally exposed to possibility of broken bones, electrical shock and burns.
