The Arizona Department of Veterans' Services is seeking a Recruitment and Classification/Compensation Specialist. This pivotal role is ideal for a proactive professional who is adept at navigating the complexities of HR practices and passionate about ensuring equitable hiring and compensation. As a Recruitment and Classification/Compensation Specialist, you will collaborate with hiring managers and leadership to develop accurate job descriptions and announcements while upholding fair and non-discriminatory pay practices. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing our recruitment outreach, attending job fairs, and implementing strategic hiring practices to attract top talent.
Your Impact:
- Strategic Recruitment: Compose and manage job announcements, maintain our agency job board, and engage actively in community and educational outreach.
- Leadership Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership and HR teams to ensure recruitment strategies and compensation plans are aligned with organizational goals.
- Event Coordination: Organize and participate in Arizona job fairs and networking events, enhancing the agency's visibility and attractiveness to potential candidates.
- Compensation Analysis: Analyze pay rates to ensure compliance with state compensation guidelines and equitable pay practices.
- Process Improvement: Support utilizing the Arizona Management System for continuous process improvement and use metrics for data-driven decisions.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).
The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. As a Recruiter for the Department of Veterans' Services you will:
- Composes job announcements; maintaining agency job board
- Collaborates with executive leadership on a variety of assignments
- Provides training to customers to include hiring managers and candidates
- Conducts consultations with supervisors and hiring managers to draft PDs and job announcements
- Responsible for statewide time-to-fill metric
- Attends and organizes job fairs, networking events and hiring events throughout the State of Arizona
- Analyzes pay rates to ensure fair and non-discriminatory pay practices
- Follows and implements the State Compensation Guidelines
Knowledge of
- Principles, practices, techniques and resources related to recruitment and staffing
- Federal and State law and Personnel Rules related to compensation/pay practices, recruitment and equal employment opportunities
- State of Arizona classification and compensation systems
Skill in
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
- Preparing written correspondence and reports
- Verbal communication to include active listening and communicating with tact and professionals while working with a variety of stakeholders
- Planning, analyzing, coordinating and overseeing work activities
- Using Google Suite for communication and assignments
- Multitask with speed and accuracy
Ability to
- Read and accurately interpret laws, rules and policies
- Gather, correlate and analyze date
- Identify potential process improvements, root cause and effectively problem solve
2 to 3 years experience in human resources specifically in classification/compensation and/or recruitment
This position requires the ability to drive on State business. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks , must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see A.AC. R2-10-207.11).
