The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing authentic, personalized relationships with patients and their chosen support systems. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote optimal health outcomes or support a peaceful and dignified end-of-life experience.
The RN integrates the best available scientific evidence with compassion and clinical expertise to guide patients through their health journey. The RN assumes responsibility, authority, and accountability for the delivery and coordination of patient care in accordance with Novant Health policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards.
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN, BMT) within 30 months of employment with signed OCN education agreement, required.
- Float to Ballantyne clinic as needed
- Must obtain ONS certification
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / bachelor's degree, preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
- Experience: Minimum of one to two years nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment, required.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
- ENPC, TNCC or CEN; preferred.
- NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire, required.
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN, BMT) within 30 months of employment with signed OCN education agreement, required.
- Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care. Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses knowledge of NMG/FMC policies/standards. Demonstrates self-directed learning through completion of any orientation requirements, nursing certification/updates and continuing education programs. Possesses clinical assessment skills relative to the hematology or oncology patient/family. Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer.
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice.
Coordinates care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
Advocates for patients and families, ensuring patient-centered, culturally competent care.
Educates patients and caregivers on treatment plans, disease processes, and health promotion.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Participates in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and professional development activities
