About this role
Family Centered Care at Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) fellow to join their team!
Schedule: 3x12 shifts per week
For more than 135 years, moms and their new babies have had a soft spot for our special touch at Inova Alexandria Hospital. Perhaps it’s because we care for each patient as an individual with unique needs, while highly advanced technology and expertise are at our fingertips. The Family Centered Care Unit at Inova Alexandria Hospital is a 35-bed unit, providing Mother/Baby couplet care. There is a significant amount of patient education that takes place for both the mother and the infant. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 RN to 4 couplets.
The Inova RN Fellow:
The RN Fellowship program will develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within a specified service line. The RN Fellow, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats.
The RN Fellow participates in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery setting utilizing and applying new knowledge. The RN Fellow will be given time to learn, opportunities to practice, and mentoring to imbed the newly learned skills and knowledge.
Communicates effectively with patients and families, team members and medical providers. Creates a collaborative team working environment. Has respect for and understanding of clinical disciplines. Uses a focused, integrated approach toward improving patient outcomes and the patient experience of care delivery.
Requirements:
Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse or RN changing specialty area of practice.
General Requirements:
Proficient in English, strong verbal, and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
Values team collaboration
Proficient computer skills required
Minimum Education Requirement:
Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
