About this role
The SONO Sleep is a NHLBI-funded study that aims to determine the efficacy of a cognitive behavioral treatment for insomnia (CBT-I) in adults with insomnia with short sleep duration (ISS) vs. insomnia with normal sleep duration (INS), and to examine the efficacy of trazodone among non-remitters to CBT-I (https://www.sonosleepstudy.org/). The Research Associate will support clinical research operations by coordinating participant screening, home-study preparation, and data collection activities. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work directly with research participants in a clinical research setting.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Program, distribute, track, and manage actigraphy devices, including downloading and scoring study data.
- Conduct participant phone screenings and support participant enrollment activities.
- Process and issue participant compensation payments.
- Prepare participants for home-based study activities by programming blood pressure monitors and providing instruction on the use of actigraphy devices, blood pressure monitors, and sleep diaries.
- Provide cross-coverage for research staff during vacations and periods of high workload.
- Obtain anthropometric measurements, including height, weight, and blood pressure.
- Administer cognitive assessments, including the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) (training provided).
- Orient participants to research procedures and provide tours of the sleep laboratory.
- Accompany participants during bloodwork, EKGs, and other study-related procedures.
- Collect, process, and store biological samples, including centrifuging and freezing saliva specimens.
- Maintain accurate research records and ensure adherence to study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Counseling, Sociology or related research field or current enrollment in a related Bachelor's Degree program with direct experience in a research environment required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34 with renewal
