PICO’s Imaging Systems & Human Engineering team builds next-generation imaging and visual intelligence technologies to deliver premium visual experiences across PICO VR/MR/AR products—spanning camera capture, visual perception, and display rendering. Interns work closely with engineers and researchers to bridge research innovation and real-world product deployment.

Responsibilities
- Research, prototype, and validate vision algorithms across computational photography, CV, and ML.
- Develop models for image enhancement/restoration (denoising, SR, deblurring, HDR) and perception (segmentation, detection, tracking, scene understanding).
- Conduct algorithm evaluation (IQA/perceptual analysis) and compare quality/performance across models.
- Explore on-device feasibility (efficiency, deployment, quantization) with mentorship.
- Communicate results through clear technical docs and presentations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a PhD or Master’s in CS/EE/Imaging Science/Physics/Math or related.
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026
- Strong fundamentals in CV, image processing, and ML; hands-on model training experience.
- Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional/cross-cultural settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of image quality metrics and human visual systems.
- Familiar with software and hardware architecture, software efficiency optimizations and tradeoffs.
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first authored publications at accredited conferences such as CVPR/ECCV/ICCV/NeurIPS/ ICLR/SIGGRAPH or SIGGRAPH Asia, etc
