The Research Technician III will provide technical and organizational support for research projects in the San Roman Lab at the Duke University School of Medicine. The technician will work closely with Dr. San Roman and laboratory staff to support the lab’s ongoing research directions, with a primary focus on human cell culture-based studies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training
Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field program.
Experience
Work requires two years of research experience. A related master's degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two year master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior laboratory research experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Detail-oriented.
- Motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, or computational biology (not required; training will be provided).

- Onsite. The work is performed on-site or at a designated assignment location.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical duties related to laboratory research projects under the direction of Dr. San Roman and laboratory staff.
- Perform experiments using human cell culture and approaches in molecular genetics, biochemistry, genomics, epigenetics, and computational biology.
- Collect, document, organize, and analyze experimental data in conjunction with Dr. San Roman and laboratory staff.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Support laboratory management, organization, and inventory.
- Serve as the Lab Safety Manager to ensure compliance with Duke Environment, Health and Safety Policies.
- Assist with training new lab members as needed.
- Contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive laboratory environment.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $22.61 to USD $34.27.
