About the Department

Serve as the Foodborne Illness Rapid Response Team (RRT) Coordinator, this will include managing the expenses of any grant dollars associated with the RRT; attending the regional and national Face to Face Meetings; planning training for local health departments and members of the Rapid Response Team; holding bi-annual meetings of the WV RRT team; coordinate any responses to foodborne/feed borne illness outbreaks; serving as an Office of Environmental Health Services (OEHS) member of the Center for Threat Preparedness response and completing all the training necessary for emergency response, when necessary; attending the weekly Division of Epidemiology Outbreak Meeting, serving as a member of the Legionella outbreak response team. Duties of the position also include all training for and inspection of manufactured food establishments throughout the state as assigned. This position may assist coordinating Food Training for Sanitarians throughout the state. Other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for coordinating all food borne illness environmental health investigations with the Bureau for Public Health (BPH) Division of Epidemiology and the Local Health Departments. Also, this position will chair the WV Food Rapid Response Team and be responsible for coordinating all the activities and meetings. Duties of the position also include all training for and inspection of manufactured food establishments throughout the state as assigned. This position is critical to meeting FDA contract and grant requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited  college or university.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.
OR
Substitution: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a Registered Sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.
