The Job in a Nutshell:
The SAP Business Analyst I supports core organizational functions and business processes by gathering requirements, performing analysis, documenting processes, executing testing and completing configuration within a defined SAP module. This role builds foundational SAP knowledge, develops strong relationships with business partners, creates and maintains internal documentation, and contributes to system stability through proactive monitoring, issue investigation, and structured problem solving.
For this role, the Analyst I will primarily support the Accounting and Accounts Payable teams, focusing on Record‑to‑Report (R2R) processes such as invoice processing, payment execution, general ledger activities, and financial close support. This role builds on prior experience in business analysis and financial process support, enabling the Analyst I to partner effectively with Accounting and AP stakeholders.
The Analyst evaluates business needs and identifies opportunities for improvement within their assigned area, exercising independent judgment while collaborating with senior analysts and vendors to align on broader or cross‑functional impacts. The Analyst also works with external SAP and AMS support resources to investigate issues, validate fixes, and support solution delivery, engaging senior analysts when additional guidance or broader coordination is needed.

Main Ingredients:
- Gather, analyze, and validate requirements for initiatives within the assigned area, with a primary focus on Accounting, Accounts Payable, and R2R‑related processes.
- Develop, maintain, and manage functional requirements, business process flows, traceability artifacts, test cases, and related documentation within the organization’s lifecycle management tools to ensure accuracy, traceability, and delivery consistency.
- Participate in solution design discussions and provide input on feasible options based on system capabilities.
- Prepare, execute, and document functional unit testing and integration testing to validate system changes against business requirements.
- Support coordination of user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure test scenarios reflect documented requirements.
- Provide cutover readiness inputs and participate in hypercare activities for assigned functional areas.
- Evaluate, document, and resolve low‑complexity support tickets, escalating issues with clear reproduction steps, functional impacts, and supporting details, and update documentation when recurring issues are identified.
- Perform low-risk configuration activities within the assigned SAP subdomains under established standards and guidelines.
- Monitor assigned SAP functional areas (particularly activities supporting AP, GL, and R2R processes), identify issues, and support improvements that enhance system stability and business efficiency, including assisting with basic integration testing or integration issue investigation when relevant.
- Serve as an escalation point for Junior Business Analysts by assisting with troubleshooting and clarifying SAP processes.
- Translate technical information into clear, understandable terms for business stakeholders to support decision‑making and process improvement.
- Build trusted relationships with assigned business partners and serve as a key point of contact for their functional needs.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School diploma or GED required.
- Three years of experience in a Business Analyst role, or a combination of SAP experience + business analysis experience required.
- Familiarity with Accounting, Accounts Payable, or Record‑to‑Report (R2R) processes such as invoice handling, payments, financial close, or general ledger activities.
- Foundational understanding of requirements gathering, business process analysis, and documentation techniques.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to apply structured problem‑solving methods.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and technical environments.
- Ability to gather information, ask clarifying questions, and document findings clearly.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both written and verbal means with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and to collaborate productively across teams.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to provide occasional after-hours support during cutovers, hypercare, or critical production issues.
Preferred:
- Experience working with business systems or ERP applications (especially SAP).
- Basic understanding of core enterprise processes relevant to retail operations (P2P, R2R, planning cycles, inventory movements, etc.)
- Basic understanding of SDLC processes (requirements → testing → release).
- Exposure to test case creation, test execution, or defect logging.
- Familiarity with SAP Cloud ALM and SolarWinds or similar ALM and ticketing systems.
