Job Purpose:
The SC NEXUS Marketing & Communications Intern will support strategic communications and marketing initiatives for SC NEXUS, a federally designated Tech Hub advancing energy innovation across South Carolina. This role offers hands-on experience in brand management, content development, stakeholder engagement and event coordination within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
The intern will assist in executing integrated marketing efforts that elevate the SC NEXUS brand, highlight project impact, and support collaboration across industry and academia.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of marketing and communications campaigns across digital and print platforms.
- Draft and edit content for newsletters, press releases, website updates, and social media channels, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and AP style.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing marketing assets, including presentations, collateral, and visual content.
- Coordinate logistics and communications for events, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
- Conduct research to support storytelling, reporting, and strategic messaging initiatives.
- Monitor and report on engagement metrics to inform marketing performance and optimization.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent, high-quality communication.
Position Duties
A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
- Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop; preferred)
- Experience with Canva or similar design platforms
- Familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact or Klaviyo)
- Understanding of social media analytics and performance tracking
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Basecamp or Monday.com)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
