About this role
MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Senior Access Center Representative serves as a peer leader and real-time resource within the Access Center, providing operational support, live coaching, issue escalation, and workflow oversight to a designated specialty pod. This senior-level position is distinguished by its combination of advanced technical proficiency, peer leadership, and autonomy in resolving scheduling and patient access issues without direct supervision. The Senior Representative supports day-to-day operations, contributes to onboarding and training, supports the Supervisor in identifying workflow trends, and acts as the primary liaison between the Access Center team and practice operations. This role requires advanced multitasking, as the Senior Access Center Representative provides real-time peer support and coaching while actively managing live patient calls and scheduling responsibilities with the Access Rep I and Access Rep II's in their designated pod.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience with mentoring or coaching peers required.
- Minimum 1-2 years Call Center, medical office, or similar customer service experience required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone.
- Ability to relate to people with diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to handle a high volume, call center environment and to multi-task.
- Ability to exercise good judgment to handle calls appropriately. -
- Strong understanding of scheduling and EMR workflows.
- Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling systems, EMR platforms, and call handling protocols.
- Excellent verbal communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain composed and professional in high-volume or escalated situations.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) a plus.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
