Join Optum's Prior Authorization Automation Platform to design and build next-generation AI solutions including Prior Auth Determination, Status Monitoring, Clinical Evidence Intelligence, and AI Copilots. The platform roadmap includes Determination, Status Monitoring, Provider Follow-Up, Clinical Evidence, and workflow automation agents.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and develop LLM-powered healthcare applications
• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using payer policies, clinical evidence, and authorization guidelines
• Develop Agentic AI workflows and multi-agent orchestration frameworks
• Implement prompt engineering, evaluation, grounding, and safety frameworks
• Build AI copilots and decision-support assistants
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to deliver production-ready AI capabilities
• Support Responsible AI, AIRB, governance, and model observability
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years of software engineering / AI experience
• Solid Python development experience
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • RAG
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Agent Frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen)
  • Vector Databases
• Experience with Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Services
• Experience deploying AI solutions in production environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare, Prior Authorization, Claims, or RCM experience
• Experience with AI evaluation and observability tools
• FHIR, HL7, Epic or healthcare interoperability knowledge
