Description of Job

Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides services used by nearly every citizen of the State. Colorado citizens utilize identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other related services. Additionally, the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally, the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.


Senior Driver License Technician DUTIES:

The employees in these positions ensure compliance with Colorado Revised Statutes and Federal laws, Department policies, rules and procedures in the issuance of Colorado documents to qualified applicants; with the primary goal of ensuring the integrity of all documents issued to Colorado residents.  These positions function as the primary point of contact to customers at the State of Colorado Driver's License facilities across the State of Colorado, and as such are considered high volume customer 

service related positions.


This position is an advanced technician in a driver's license office.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Handles and resolves more difficult customer complaints and/or concerns;

  • Processes complicated, or more difficult applications;

  • Delivers certification training (DLF) to Technician I and II positions; teaching the necessary knowledge and skills required to perform job tasks efficiently and accurately;

  • Assists with training new employees; assists the driver's license program trainer with skills assessments required at the completion of training;

  • Occasionally operates as the floor lead, relieving employees for breaks; monitors work flow; etc.

  • Performs all functions of line staff, including issuing documents, performing drive tests, etc., when business dictates.

  • May be required to perform overrides and audit documents for accuracy as necessary

  • Clearing Gates in Central Server

  • May be required regularly to perform the duties of a Technician I and II in a Driver License Offices;


This position reports onsite at the Parker Driver License Office, located at 17924 Cottonwood Dr, Parker CO 80134 . May be required to travel and work between multiple Driver License Offices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Three (3) years of relevant experience in a high volume customer service workplace, with at least 1 year as a Technician I and/or Technician II within a Driver License Office.


OR


Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in a high volume customer service workplace, with at least 1 year as a Technician I and/or Technician II within a Driver License Office, equal to three (3) years total.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a lead worker or mentor

  • State experience in a high volume, regulatory customer service environment

  • Proficiency using Google Apps

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently 

  • Proven success organizing and tracking workload

  • Prior work in cash handling and balancing receipts


Conditions of Employment with the CDOR:

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. 


As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.


Pursuant to the Universal Driving Standards Policyany worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle. 

To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who: 
  • Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
