Senior Front-End Engineer - Execution Technology

The Execution Technology team at Balyasny owns the trading infrastructure that connects portfolio managers and traders to global markets. The team is responsible for the platforms, tools, and user interfaces that support order management, trade execution, real-time market data consumption, and execution analytics across asset classes.

You will work alongside backend engineers and trading desk professionals to build and evolve the front-office UI layer — the tools that traders and PMs interact with every single day.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Front-End Engineer to join the Execution Services team. You will be responsible for designing and building high-performance, low-latency web applications that serve the front office.

This is a hands-on engineering role with direct exposure to trading workflows, real-time data systems, and mission-critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build responsive, high-performance front-end applications for the trading desk, including order management UIs, execution dashboards, and real-time blotters.
• Consume and visualise real-time streaming data from internal services 
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers and front-office stakeholders (traders, PMs) to translate complex trading workflows into intuitive UIs.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and champion UI best practices across the team.
• Support production during trading hours with a commitment to rapid incident resolution given the time-sensitive nature of trading operations.
• Work in an agile environment, iterating quickly based on trader feedback and evolving business requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 6 years of professional front-end engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript.
• Experience building real-time data UIs using WebSockets / socket-based streaming, including handling high-frequency updates, message ordering, and UI state consistency.
• Proficiency with data grid / tabular UI libraries (e.g., AG Grid) for high-frequency, high-volume data rendering.
• Strong understanding of web performance optimization — rendering pipelines, virtualization, debouncing/throttling, and memory management.
• Experience with testing frameworks (Playwright, Jest, React Testing Library).
• Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern development workflows.
• AI-assisted development mindset: comfortable using AI tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong judgement around validation, refactoring, testing, security, and responsible usage.

Domain (Required)

• Prior experience working in trading technology / execution technology environments.
• Familiarity with trading concepts — order types, execution workflows, FIX protocol, P&L, or market data.
• Exposure to EMS/OMS systems.
