What You’ll Get to Do
Echo Power is seeking a Manager, HV Technical Services to lead our High Voltage Testing and Commissioning team. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and people management to support substation and power generation projects from commissioning through successful energization.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive relay testing and commissioning experience who can effectively manage field personnel, project execution, client relationships, and business growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, schedule, and develop relay technicians and field team members.
- Lead testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of protective relays, control systems, substations, and power generation facilities.
- Review relay settings, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, and control logic to support reliable, compliant system performance.
- Develop commissioning plans, testing procedures, and field documentation for project execution.
- Provide technical oversight for relay protection, controls, system upgrades, design reviews, and troubleshooting support.
- Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, billing, client deliverables, and overall field execution.
- Coordinate field activities to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within scope, and to company and customer standards.
- Manage performance development, resource planning, and team readiness to support current and future project needs.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, technical credibility, and responsive service.
- Support proposal development, estimating, technical reviews, and identification of growth opportunities with existing and prospective customers.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of substation and power plant protection systems, relay schemes, transformers, metering, controls, and SCADA systems.
- Experience commissioning utility, industrial, or power generation facilities.
- Proficiency with relay testing equipment such as Omicron, Doble, and Megger.
- Strong troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and field teams simultaneously.
- Understanding of LV power systems, ATS/MTS systems, and communication networks preferred.
- Experience with SEL relays, PLCs, excitation systems, and advanced protection schemes preferred.
- NETA or NICET Level III certification (or equivalent) preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred.
- 10+ years of relay testing and commissioning experience.
- Previous supervisory or field leadership experience required.
Work Environment
Our headquarters is located in Tennessee; however, this role is primarily field-based. Candidates should reside within one hour of a major airport and be willing to travel up to 75%.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $140,000 – $200,000 annually (based on education and experience)
- Annual bonus: Performance-based bonus opportunity
- Additional compensation options, including hourly pay with overtime, may be considered for qualified candidates
