achieve its strategic goals? If so the DAE, Data Analytics and Engineering team

is looking for a motivated team player to support the USRM Business Delivery

Solutions Engineering (BDSE) squads as they deliver cutting edge business data solutions.  In addition, you will be part of the overall USRM

DAE data ecosystem and lead key initiatives such as Frontier, AI advancement

and capabilities and changing our engineering pipelines and ecosystem using AI.

Provides technical oversight and

engineering solutions to most complex and strategic system and data application

development projects.  Break-down complex business problems into simple/ modular, flexible, extensible, scalable, and performant data solutions.  Responsible for the implementation of technology by developing clear, comprehensive, and integrated systems, technical and/or product recommendations which support

business plans and long-term strategies. Oversees design reviews and frameworks

for multiple product teams and large portfolios.  Working closely with Enterprise and Data

Solution Architects, drives adoption of architecture standards to promote operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization into operating norms. Recognized as a thought leader within discipline who influences decisions made by senior leadership and advances the

craft of engineering within our organization.


As part of this fast-paced team you will help influence the transformation of our data strategy

and roadmap delivering key data solutions in direct alignment with business

strategies.  The candidate will be part of a talented and empowered engineering

team defining and building the next generation of data solutions.  As a Sr. Solutions Engineer you coach and

guide the solutions engineers and data engineering teams with a primary focus on accelerating quality and speed to market business data delivery solutions.  As a thought leader, you will work with over 35 development squadsto shape our strategic direction and future engineering roadmap, lead modernization initiatives for legacy systems, and support the growth of engineering talent within the USRM DAE organization.

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide USRM Data Domain knowledge across the Business Delivery Solutions Engineering organization.
  • Provide SME expertise to increase understanding of historical data content, application code, and business processes within the squads.
  • Mentor and coach team members as servant leaders across a cross-functional, multi-team organization; provide guidance to delivery squads for training and other learning opportunities.
  • Define data sourcing and solutioning recommendations to ensure proposed epics/features are actionable as squads receive them.
  • Align business questions from the Data Office and other stakeholders to future-state architecture principles and the roadmap.
  • Make the data strategy real for teams by applying appropriate tools and patterns to individual use cases.
  • Orchestrate data solutions that are scalable, reusable, and minimize development costs across business domains.
  • Continually contribute to the evolution of our modern data architecture roadmap and strategy based on new and emerging technology needs.
  • Establish, share, and align best practices emerging across squads throughout the BDSE organization.
  • Possess expert-level understanding of business operations and key decisions within a business process; develop technology-enabled recommendations and process improvements that address complex technology gaps.
  • Define and lead engineering excellence guidelines and best-practice safeguards.
  • Design and build complex data provisioning workflows/pipelines, physical data schemas, extracts, transformations, data models, and integrations.
  • Design and build complex data architectures and applications that enable reporting, analytics, data science, and data management, improving accessibility, efficiency, governance, processing, and data quality.
  • Ensure data solutions are simple, modular, flexible, extensible, scalable, and performant.
  • Apply machine learning concepts to work where applicable.
  • Develop and execute cutover and transition plans for areas of responsibility; assist in post-implementation support, resolve issues, raise defects as appropriate, and transition knowledge and ownership to other resources/teams.
  • Make and execute recommendations to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate strong technical architecture and leadership skills with the ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of hands-on data design and development experience at least 3 of which should be in a technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience defining, architecture roadmaps, business cases and implementations for data solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, modern Cloud / Hybrid data architecture concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge of data concepts, strategies and methodologies. In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • Knowledge of a variety of data platforms: relational data, XML, Data Lakes, unstructured data solutions.
  • Well versed in data governance, information management frameworks; Understanding of Data management, relational databases and reference data management would be essential.
  • Understanding of data modeling techniques; ability to lead and contribute to incremental and iterative modern data architecture.
  • Perform data research / profiling and applies recommendation to solution design.
  • Ability to balance support of legacy solutions with delivery of new business capabilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with modern engineering practices, cloud computing (AWS), Gen AI and development using micro services architecture is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners,Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines and standards while innovating and contributing to evolution of those standards.
  • Advanced negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-makers with a calm, measured style

  • Demonstrated experience defining data architecture roadmaps and strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance lifecycle and operations

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
