Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of software development experience, including designing and building large-scale distributed systems, big data platforms, or high-throughput data processing systems.
- Experience programming in C++, Java, Go, or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $262,000-$365,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical goal, architectural design, and execution of large-scale data platforms, high-throughput streaming pipelines, and distributed storage systems that process advanced map attributes.
- Design highly reliable, privacy-compliant systems to ingest and process real-time sensor observations at global scale to continuously update Google Maps.
- Establish technical consensus and build strong collaborative relationships across product, engineering, and external automotive partners to deliver roadmap priorities.
- Mentor other engineers, advocate software engineering best practices, and cultivate a high-performance technical culture.
