About this role
At MSL, we’re on a mission to make every client more influential and a positive force of influence in the(ir) world. Why? Because we know that influence = impact and the more influential you are, the more impactful you can be. We’re proud to partner with incredible brands, companies and leaders who want to push boundaries and create change – and we’re looking for passionate creators and storytellers who want to do the same. A team of powerhouse professionals that is driven by three core values: Leading, Learning and Loving. A team that has ranked us a “Best Place to Work” in the industry year over year.
We’re looking for a Senior Strategist, Digital with a passion for influencer marketing, social media and digital distribution to join our growing team in New York City. In this role, you’ll help shape breakthrough campaigns for high-profile consumer brands, driving creativity and innovation. As a Senior Digital Strategist at MSL, you'll serve as a trusted partner to account leaders, mentor and inspire junior team members, and bring fresh thinking that elevates every stage of the work.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in consumer marketing, with a proven track record of developing and executing innovative global digital and influencer programs for leading brands. You’re equal parts strategic thinker, collaborative teammate and digital trendspotter, with a passion for creating work that delivers measurable impact.
This particular role will lean heavily into social media strategy, data and reporting, cultural trends, influencer marketing and real-time fan/enthusiast engagement. The person in this position is also expected to have a strong understanding of how owned social and influencer tactics can seamlessly integrate with earned media efforts. In a fast-paced environment, a “standard day” can look very different based on the week, month or season, but typically, these are the core responsibilities:
Ideate and execute organic social programs that complement the creative framework for a variety of programs, especially on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube. This includes developing and maintaining ongoing content calendars, posting to channels, and collaborating with inter-agency partners to produce social assets and copy.
Keep a pulse on and engage with brand fans and enthusiasts who show passion and loyalty for our clients’ products and services by developing and executing consumer- and industry expert-centric programs – big and small.
Manage large-scale paid influencer programs and oversee its tactical development, strategic execution, and post-program performance analysis. This includes preparing and presenting influencer strategies, lists, and briefs to internal teams and clients.
Develop seeded influencer programs including the ideation of unique and interesting ways to ensure influencers create content that fits our owned social strategy.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and utilize analytic tools to effectively track and measure success of activations, as well as inform strategic optimization recommendations in real time.
Support both on-site and virtual events for clients, which may require occasional travel during evenings and weekends.
Agile and collaborative working style - demonstrated ability to work against tight timelines and part of cross-discipline agency and client teams
Effectively develop regular campaign reports and present data-based results, pulling strong, action-oriented insights to inform further work.
Engage in regular client and agency partner discussions. You will have an active speaking role on the team, internally, and with clients.
Prepare and present plans to clients, agency partners, and internal stakeholders. This includes effectively presenting data-based results, cultural trends / insights, and leveraging successes to build further work.
Stay current on digital and cultural trends, develop internal and external POVs and how they apply to our business and work, and actively liaise with MSL’s Digital Innovation Center of Excellence.
Proactively brainstorm against new requests and challenges. Whether it’s for a small client idea or a new business opportunity, we challenge everyone to come to the table with new ways of thinking.
Turn insights into big ideas that drive brand loyalty and talkability
Serve as a mentor for junior team members and day-to-day supervisor of work with a blend of strong time management, leadership, team building, and client relation skills.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communications skills.
Challenge the process and make it better.
Embody agency values of Leading, Learning & Loving.
Understand and implement AI tools in day-to-day workflows to enhance owned social and influencer strategies, content development, and operational processes.
5+ years previous experience in an agency or in-house, and a B.A. in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline.
Previous experience with home, fashion and/or luxury / premium brands.
Digital native with understanding of social from organic and paid perspectives. While the role will not frequently touch paid social, an understanding of paid best practices and how it integrates with organic social and influencer strategy is a plus.
Previous experience with managing junior team members, either as a direct supervisor or day-to-day manager.
Proven experience working in tandem with other creative agencies to develop comprehensive campaigns.
Ability to develop and present compelling client proposals.
