About this role
The Social Media Coordinator for the Department of Medicine must have a proven track record of working on organic and paid social media campaigns on various platforms (X, Instagram, Linked-In, Facebook, YouTube) as well as web and digital marketing strategies and tactics that drive customer (patients) acquisition and build on Mount Sinai’s reputation as an academic research institution and assist in the development, implementation and execution of these parts of our campaigns. He/she will approach social media and digital campaigns in a data driven and analytical manner and be responsible for ensuring content, usability, and appearance are optimal for heightening the visibility of Mount Sinai’s Department of Medicine across its 14 divisions at seven hospitals across the system, with the goal of strengthening its reputation in the areas of health care, medical education, and scientific research.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic social media campaigns specifically designed to recruit patients for clinical trials or research studies, promote new clinical and research programs to respective audiences through social media providing expert guidance and management throughout the process.
- Represent Department of Medicine at select academic conference(s) to provide real-time social media coverage of the event promoting both Mount Sinai and participants attending event(s). Serve as photographer at these events.
- Create web pages utilizing the most current platforms including Foleon to promote key annual research and clinical conference that highlight Mount Sinai presenters.
- Responsible to update websites and coordinate with divisions in the Department of Medicine working collaboratively with leadership and web team.
- Maintain communication with division faculty new hires to ensure a complete online profile for faculty directory on website and “find a doctor” platform on a routine basis.
- Assist with the updating of departmental websites; working with editing, social media, and graphic design teams at the system level.
- Publish DOM related content on Mount Sinai Daily, which would include key Grand Rounds, Symposia and other events.
- Identify reputable journals, associations, etc.to highlight divisional annual symposia and other events in line with reputation building. In addition, explore advertising opportunities within those journals to maximize conference attendance.
- Collaborate with departmental faculty to gather content for Mount Sinai Today, patient, and physician newsletter with the aim of promoting programs and reputation.
- Develop digital screen slides promoting symposia, specific services and events.
- Coordinate with photographers and videographers to ensure the successful completion of projects
- Promote milestone events to employees, as needed.
- Conduct market research to best understand audiences for which Department of Medicine clinical and academic programs would be best be suited.
- Other duties relating to marketing and communication, as needed.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing or related field, or equivalent work experience require
- 1+ years working in social media marketing
Preferred:
- Demonstrated work experience in advertising, marketing communications or related field
- Experience in health care marketing a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills including, planning, scheduling, meeting deadlines, and working with internal stakeholders and outside vendors to complete projects on time.
- Ability to extract meaning and suggest strategic action items from data and metrics
- Innovative and creative thinking balance with practical thinking.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Reliable self-starter with strong creative thinking, analytical problem-solving, as well as decision-making and interpersonal skills.

- MS Office Suite; high proficiency in Excel for data input and sorting
