As a Software Architect Sr within PNC's Enterprise Technology (Automation & Platform) organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.Role Overview
The GenAI Solutions Architect is responsible for defining and delivering enterprise-scale AI and automation architecture, with a focus on Document AI and Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities supporting Banking and Lending platforms.
This role partners with business, product, and engineering teams to design scalable, secure, and compliant solutions, while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and successful end-to-end delivery.

Primary Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
• Define and own end-to-end architecture for GenAI and Document AI solutions
• Design LLM-based architectures, including RAG pipelines and AI orchestration frameworks
• Establish architecture standards, design patterns, and governance models
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and risk frameworks
Delivery & Execution
• Drive end-to-end solution delivery from ideation through production deployment
• Provide architectural oversight to ensure quality, scalability, and timely delivery
• Support estimation, sizing (T-shirt sizing), and roadmap planning
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges
• Ensure adherence to DevSecOps, CI/CD, and operational readiness practices
Platform & Engineering Enablement
• Architect cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes/OpenShift and microservices
• Design intelligent document processing (IDP) solutions (classification, extraction, validation, summarization)
• Evaluate and integrate GenAI, automation, and emerging technology platforms
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering teams and technical leads
Governance & Compliance
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements
• Define and enforce AI governance, model lifecycle, and responsible AI practices

Required Qualifications
Experience
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and/or architecture
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise AI/GenAI solutions
• Experience working in Banking, Lending, or regulated financial environments
GenAI & AI Architecture
• Strong expertise in LLMs, RAG architectures, and enterprise AI integration
• Experience with prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, and AI lifecycle management
Technology Stack
• Expert-level Python (FastAPI, Django or similar frameworks)
• Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift (OCP) and cloud-native architecture
• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
Document AI & Data
• Experience designing document-centric AI solutions (OCR, NLP, IDP)
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling
Security & Compliance
• Experience with enterprise security controls, secrets management, and compliance frameworks
• Understanding of AI risk, model governance, and data privacy standards

• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search
• Exposure to Azure OpenAI or cloud-based AI platforms
• Knowledge of Java microservices (Spring Boot) and integration patterns
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and search platforms (Elastic/OpenSearch)

Job Description
- Leads in the overall design of cross-functional, multi-platform, and Web-based application systems; oversees all application system processes.
- Develops application architecture and blueprints aimed at reflecting enterprise business logic.
- Defines application components, platforms, interfaces, and development tools. Directs mapping activities on specific technology platforms.
- Provides technical guidance to application development teams. Consults on integration and conversion activities.
- Conducts reviews, and analyses organizational needs and goals to develop and implement applications.
