Software Developer Co-op

Bastian Solutions Pallet Automation group is seeking a Software Developer Co-op to fulfill 3 in-office/hybrid rotations in Grand Rapids, MI. 

 

Rotations: 

1^st:  May 2026 – August 2026

2^nd:  January 2027 – May 2027

3^rd:  August 2027 – December 2027

 

Job Overview:

Seeking creative, talented up and coming developers who are eager to learn, enjoy challenges, and looking to jump start their career in development.  We develop state of the art Warehouse Management Software. We are seeking future Software Developers with a background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or IT to come join us for their co-op or internship in order to gain real world experience.

 

Exacta and viadat is our proprietary software developed in house at Bastian Software.

Job Functions:

• Develop software or implement modifications to software from given specifications and requirements.
• Complete software validation, ensuring that all software modules meet functional specifications, design documents, and end user requirements.
• Understanding the bug tracking process throughout our development cycle; demonstrating attention to details in identifying issues with the product enhancement
• Ability to look through the logs to distinguish where the issue may be
• Diving into issues to understand true root cause, and then working with senior level developers to fix any bugs in the software.
• Design and execute test plans; communicating bugs and working with other team members to close the loop on open issues.
• Create and maintain working test environments that allow team to cover all aspects of every project

 

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications:

• In pursuit of their Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar major
• Eager to learn in Visual Studio, C#, C++, SQL Server and/or Oracle
• Strong quality control and computer skills including ability to learn how to manually deploy and test software
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.

 

Travel Requirements:

• Potential overnight travel to customer sites during implementation (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
