Team Introduction

ByteDance's Edge platform is a kubernetes-based distributed system that manages hundreds of PoPs around the world and aims to provide cloud native interfaces to allow internal and external users to deploy and manage all kinds of location/latency sensitive workloads, such as traffic acceleration, CDN cache, gaming, livestreaming, RTC, edge computing, etc. We are seeking software engineer interns to help build the cloud-native platform to manage the lifecycle (creation, deployment, CI/CD etc.) and traffic (ingress, proxy, DNS, traffic scheduling, etc.), as well as providing management tools (monitoring, alerting, logging, etc.) for edge services on our globally distributed PoPs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to build enterprise-level platform (PaaS) that serves both internal and external teams.
  • Develop and Enhance microservices using Cloud Native technologies like Kubernetes, gRPC, REST, Nginx/Envoy, Postgres, Containers, etc.
  • Write the necessary unit test, integration test, and end-to-end test.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible end-to-end for the production environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, C/C++.
  • Experience with TCI/IP networking stack.
  • Experience in using docker or other container technologies.
  • Experience with one or more databases and messaging frameworks, such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, etc.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of edge computing concepts, content delivery networks (CDN), load balancing strategies, and distributed storage/compute architect
