What We Offer:

The Software Engineer I (AI) plays a key role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced Decision Intelligence and AI‑enabled solutions that elevate the delivery of healthcare. In this role, you will build intelligent products that directly improve patient care, enhance team member and patient experiences, streamline clinical and administrative operations, and strengthen the financial health of our organization.

 

Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM (On call support required, as needed).

Location: Remote

Department: Institute for Innovation and AI

 

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to scalable AI and machine‑learning solutions that solve real-world healthcare challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners—including clinical, operational, and technical teams—to translate complex needs into actionable AI products.
  • Develop robust, high-quality software that adheres to industry best practices and modern engineering principles.
  • Contribute to the full product lifecycle—from concept to deployment and optimization—using data-driven insights.
  • Continuously explore emerging AI technologies to improve model performance, system reliability, and user experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile
You are a creative problem solver with strong software engineering foundations, practical experience in AI/ML, and a passion for transforming healthcare using data and technology. You thrive in collaborative environments and take pride in building solutions that make a lasting impact.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Engineering, Computer Science or related field. Graduate Degree, preferred.
  • Experience: One year software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering or similar technical role experience, required. Data science or artificial intelligence experience, required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Beginning experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment, preferably with exposure to Agile methodologies. 
    • Beginning experience with or understanding of process for deploying AI/ML models to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
    • Proficiency in at least one common programming language, such as Python or Java.
    • Familiarity with modern AI concepts and patterns, such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and working with LLM APIs.
    • Designing and building user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
    • Good understanding of cloud computing concepts, containerization (e.g., Docker), and DevOps practices.
    • Experience working with semi-structured file formats (e.g., JSON, XML) and NoSQL databases.
    • Understanding layers of software stack including API design, development and production deployment at scale.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Familiarity with building data pipelines and working with large-scale structured and unstructured data.
    • Good communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to explain technical concepts to team members.
    • A positive, “get to yes” attitude, seeking to find a solution that meets viability, value, feasibility, and usability objectives.
  • Additional Skills (preferred):
    • Knowledge of developing prototypes and iterating on solutions. 
    • Some experience with AI application frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).
    • Familiarity with Responsible AI principles, such as fairness, bias mitigation, and model explainability.
    • Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular).
    • Experience in the healthcare industry or knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security rules.
