Job Overview

As a Software Engineer I, you will join a team of experienced professionals dedicated to building out next-generation software solutions with a focus on improving business processes. Travelers is a hybrid work environment. Most roles are performed a combination of working onsite in the office and from home. Please talk with your manager about what best suits your role.

What Will You Do?

  • Collaborate with team to design, develop, test, debug, and implement software solutions.
  • Participate in the full life cycle of software development, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation.
  • Develop solutions and services using modern programming languages and frameworks such as .NET, Node.js, React, and APIs.
  • Provide support for deployed solutions.
  • Work within an Agile team with other engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in various team ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, story grooming, and sprint reviews.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, design sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate issues, risks, and roadblocks to the team and leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • General experience with front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML, CSS).
  • General experience with back-end technologies (e.g., .NET/C#, Node.js, Java, Python).
  • General experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • General experience with data stores (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • General experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • General experience with Agile methodologies.
  • General knowledge of software engineering best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 1.5 years of experience in programming/development.

What Is The Compensation?

We believe in rewarding our employees for their hard work and commitment. We offer a competitive base salary and performance-based incentives to recognize your contributions. The salary range for this position is an indication of the compensation that Travelers may offer for this role. It is not an offer of employment.

Salary Range: $79,200.00 - $130,700.00 (Hartford, CT)

Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, skills, and other factors. If you are a selected candidate, you will learn more about our total compensation package for this position during the recruitment process.
