About this role

The Global Payment team of Bytedance provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok.

Internships at ByteDance aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality software design and architecture for global payment systems;
  • Identify, prioritise and execute tasks in the software development life cycle;
  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code;
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting;
  • Review and debug code; Perform validation and verification testing;
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to fix and improve our products;
  • Document development phases and monitor systems;
  • Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline.
  • Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in one or more general purpose programming languages
  • Strong communication and excellent teamwork skills; flexible and be a self-starter.
  • Agile, quick self learner, highly self-motivated with strong sense of product ownership and creative problem solver;
  • Good collaborator and team player, comfortable working in a fast moving, culturally diverse and globally distributed team environment.
  • Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant internship experience with hands-on exposure to the tech stack
  • Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
