About this role
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
- Experience designing and developing relational databases, database internals, query processing and query optimization.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg or Apache Spark.
- Understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and database internals.

- Triage, debug, and resolve complex and escalated query processing issues. Drive performance benchmarking and query execution optimization.
- Build, manage, and mentor a team of software engineers. Set the standard for engineering excellence by performing rigorous code reviews and enforcing best practices for efficiency, accuracy, and testability.
- Partner with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps. Contribute to and oversee architectural documentation, adapting technical strategies based on product updates and user feedback.
- Write critical-path code for high-performance database internals and the AlloyDB query engine.
- Lead system design, driving the architectural direction for large-scale distributed systems and transactional consistency.
