Job Description
Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more — we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We’re creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We’re erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We’re advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.
Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.
Space Protection Programs is seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Project Manager who will serve as Deputy Lead for an Integrated Product Team (IPT). The ideal candidate will combine strong project‑management expertise with deep engineering know‑how to drive complex, multi‑disciplinary programs from concept through production. This role will support the IPT Lead in steering technical direction, managing schedules, risks, and resources, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
In this role you will:
- Drive software development & integration – Oversee flight software development, integration, and verification activities, ensuring deliverables meet technical, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Own the integrated software program plan – Develop, maintain, and regularly baseline the IPT‑wide schedule, cost baseline, and performance target documents; track earned‑value, forecast variances, and drive corrective actions to keep the program on‑track.
- Collaborate with other Program IPTs – Act as the primary liaison between the Software IPT and Systems, Test, Hardware, and Mission‑Level IPTs; align milestone dates, data‑exchange interfaces, and resource commitments across the full program architecture.
- Work with software functional leadership to establish demand for program efforts and assist in staffing planning activities
- Conduct trade studies, risk analyses, and mitigation planning to protect schedule and budget health.
