Position Summary:

The Internal Communications Specialist will support and reinforce the execution of Giant Food’s Internal Communications Strategy while working to meet the brand’s day-to-day communications needs through channel maintenance and enhancement, content editing and creation, associate permissions and access, and administrative support.  
 
The Internal Communications Specialist will support the Internal Communications Manager in executing this strategy and meeting brand needs.

  • Supports the alignment of communication activities to Giant’s vision, values, Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and business strategy while serving as a guardian of the brand image and reputation. 
  • Supports Internal Communications Manager in developing, deploying and executing Giant’s Internal Communications Strategy. 
  • Provides ongoing maintenance, education and support for communications infrastructure and all internal channels including Task Management, SharePoint, Microsoft, Email, Breakroom TVs and Virtual Meetings as well as Live Meetings, Newsletters and other channels as needed. 
  • Creates, edits, coordinates and distributes content to support the effective and timely flow of information across the brand’s various internal channels, including outside of normal business hours as business needs dictate. 
  • Assists in the planning, production, and execution of newsletters, town hall meetings, company-wide conference calls, district meetings, etc. 
  • Maintains Intranet: writes, reviews and posts content.  Identifies opportunities to integrate content across digital and social media channels. 

 

Collaboration and Teamwork 

  • Collaborates and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including senior leadership, to ensure messaging is current, accurate, and consistent with our values, EVP and brand strategy.   
  • Supports internal communications initiatives, campaigns and strategic priorities through various tactics such as creating graphics and visuals to support content, developing content in various media formats and types (written such as email, tasks, announcements, page updates, articles, breakroom TV slides, video). 
  • Assists Internal Communications Manager with planning efforts and maintaining key support documents such as the Content Calendar. 
  • Leverages analytics and reports to determine effectiveness, seek continual improvements of communication initiatives, and manage regular reporting. Contribute ideas to improve communication strategies based on data and insights. 
  • Supports crisis communications planning and response activities.  
  • Stays up to date and informed on internal communications tools, strategies, and best practices. Supports the ongoing improvement of internal communications channels. 
  • Supports the corporate communications team with other tasks as needed. 

 

Planning and Execution 

  • Research/lead storytelling opportunities to highlight Giant Food associates and their contributions to the business. 
  • Leads survey activities to measure the effectiveness of communication programs and initiatives. 
  • Assist in the day-to-day tactics of the internal communications strategy. 
  • Support the production and distribution of digital, video, and print communications. (researching, sourcing, writing, proof-reading, fact checking, facilitating legal review)  
  • Ensure HR content on the HR run intranet is fresh and accurate.  

 

What You Will Bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. 
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating your work in corporate communications, including expertise in internal communications utilizing various channels and HR communications.  
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills, with a proven ability to craft engaging, clear, and impactful messages that connect with and inspire diverse audiences and channels.  
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple, high-impact initiatives simultaneously.  
  • Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills, with experience collaborating with associates at all levels. 
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements 
  • Creative thinker and implementer, always looking at innovative ideas for storytelling and employee engagement programs.  
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to schedule and manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. Collaborator with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.  
  • Strong advocacy for technology and change with a passion for supporting organization effectiveness through enabling collaboration and communication technology. 

Salary: $80,925 - $107,900
