About this role
The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for driving referral and revenue growth within an assigned territory through disciplined execution of the district strategy. SBDMs partner with sales and field operations leadership to complete market analyses, align strategy, and generate referral growth and volume. SBDMs are expected to serve as the field-sales leader for strategic accounts and complex growth opportunities in their aligned markets. The position drives sales results through key growth channels, targeted development events, and overall pod performance.
Additionally, the Senior BDM serves as a Pod Leader, responsible for driving performance across a small team of BDMs and BDAs. This role will serve as ‘captain’ of the sales pod, and support sales management recruit, onboard, and train new hires – and provide ongoing oversight and leadership. The SBDM position requires individual production, team coordination, and local strategic leadership to achieve market objectives.
Pod Leadership & Performance
• Lead a pod (typically 3–4 BDMs + BDA support)
• Align team activity to highest-value opportunities
• Coordinate account coverage and reduce overlap/gaps
• Assure call files are updated on time, accurate, and aligned to district strategy
Strategic Account Ownership

Mentorship & Capability Building
• Mentor BDMs and BDAs within pod
• Support onboarding and skill development
• Reinforce standards of execution
Key KPIs
• Pod-level performance (revenue + referrals)
• Strategic account growth
• Pipeline quality across pod
• Service line growth contribution
Minimum Education
Required:
• Associate’s degree or 2 years of equivalent experience in exercise science, physiology, sports/performance training or kinesiology
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Minimum Experience
Required:
• 6+ years sales of healthcare sales experience
Preferred:
• Past leadership experience; established book of business in healthcare
