As a Marketing Research Specialist, you'll develop and support marketing information capabilities and insights for production or internal business partners. This can include responsibility for custom research projects, including the development and maintenance of longitudinal tracking programs and related analyses. This can also include developing the business understanding necessary for research projects, obtaining, and managing related data, performing analyses, interpreting results, providing insights to internal clients, and helping implement insights to marketing decisions. May lead small cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.

You will be responsible for managing multiple research projects from initial scoping through final presentation of results.  You will help determine appropriate research methodology, sampling approach, questionnaire and/or discussion guide design, manage third parties, and develop and maintain research plans for internal clients.

What You'll Do

  • Manages multiple research projects to develop business and customer insights to drive business objectives.
  • Manages workstreams of research projects and tracking programs designed to provide greater insights to facilitate gain insights around Nationwide’s performance relative to the competition among key audiences
  • Documents the efforts of the business subject matter experts; conducts the business alignment and scoping sessions.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets a wide variety of underlying data to support business, customer and/or financial objectives; able to identify new ways to combine business data to improve research output and marketing and business outcomes.
  • Drives the initiative to build on and/or improve existing research to solve business problems
  • Interprets research results and shares with internal stakeholders.
  • Builds data visualization to support business needs.
  • Designs and implements qualitative and quantitative research projects and methodologies used to measure consumer perceptions and satisfaction.
  • Helps drive marketing action and results through the interpretation and application of data and research findings.
  • Helps facilitate business implementation planning sessions.
  • Facilitates post-implementation checkpoint with business units to ensure best in class solutions are implemented.
  • Influences change and gains support from leadership and key partners for the development of new processes and methods
  • Develops governance, documentation, and training around new processes
  • Increases efficiency of the organization and end-to-end value stream with process, data, technology, and centralization.

This hybrid position is based in Columbus, OH. Candidates located near a Nationwide campus will collaborate in office 2 days per week.

As a Senior Consultant, you'll develop and support marketing information capabilities and insights for production or internal business partners. This can include responsibility for leading business and data analytics projects, including development and maintenance of intermediate statistical models and related analyzes. This can also include developing the business understanding vital for analytics projects, obtaining and leading related data, performing analyses, interpreting results, outlining requirements for sophisticated analytical solutions as needed, providing insights to internal clients and helping implement insights to marketing decisions. May lead cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.

You also may work on projects through one or more of the delivery cycles from initiation, solution scoping, design, development, and analytic execution through implementation. You'll document business rules, business cases, requirements, information requirements, analytic requirements and implementation strategy for changes and improvements to customer information and decision making both in an analytical and operational environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the management of programs and portfolios to deliver analysis and operational capabilities and solutions while aligning processes with efficiency targets.

  • Provides thought leadership and insights into the development of business processes and system functional, non-functional and information requirements and ensuring alignment with the business strategy.

  • Generates understanding of business processes and identifies critical business metrics and information requirements for decision making.

  • Leads portfolios, including meetings, results, and roadmaps. Coordinates the efforts of the business subject matter specialists; conducts the business alignment and scoping sessions.

  • Gathers, analyzes and interprets a wide variety of underlying data to support business, customer and/or financial objectives; able to identify new ways to combine business data to improve business processes and marketing and business outcomes.

  • Drives the initiative to build and/or improve existing statistical models to solve business problems; defines requirements for sophisticated machine-learning models; implements testing strategy and assists in putting final models into production.

  • Interprets statistical/analytical results and creates a feedback loop for analyzes improvement.

  • Builds data visualization to support business needs.

  • Designs and implements qualitative and quantitative research projects and methodologies used to measure consumer perceptions and satisfaction.

  • Helps drive marketing action and results through the interpretation and application of data and research findings.

  • Conducts business implementation planning sessions and post-implementation checkpoint with business units to ensure best in class solutions are implemented.

  • Builds and evolves an end-to-end budgeting and workflow process that will allow Marketing to become more efficient and impactful.

  • Influences change and gains support from leadership and key partners for the development of new processes and methods.

  • Develops governance, documentation and training around new processes.

  • Increases efficiency of the organization and end-to-end value stream with process, data, technology, and centralization.

  • Ensures senior leaders are kept advised and impacts of implementation.

  • May be responsible for associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organizational planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Director/Associate Vice President/Vice President level or higher. This is an individual contributor role; may have opportunity to lead matrix and virtual teams.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Degree in business related field preferred. Post-graduate studies a plus.

Experience: Typically, 10 or more years proven experience with analytic techniques, statistical methodologies, statistical software and data analysis. Experience with problem solving in a business environment; working with large customer and/or prospect databases; working with product, geographic, demographic data to identify trends and opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proven experience as a consultant-level resource. Experienced knowledge of analytic lifecycle, business intelligence, database warehousing applications, structured query language, and qualitative/quantitative research methodologies. Extensive theoretical, practical and industry-specific knowledge is needed. Solid understanding and experience with the following technologies: house holding, geo coding, data visualization software, data quality parsing and standardizations tools, address cleaning tools, business intelligence software, applications software applications. Validated understanding of purchased data sources and methodology for integrating to marketing database environments. Ability to integrate critical information from a variety of sources, apply and/or develop highly sophisticated principles and concepts, and strong communication skills. Validated excellence in problem solving, analytical, research and quantitative analysis skills and analytical working techniques, including regression, decision trees, multivariate analysis, etc. Proficiency in developing ad hoc queries using SQL. Comprehension of Agile methodology framework.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
