About this role

Strategic Partnerships (SP) manages the most significant enterprise relationships across American Express, with a mission to build differentiated partnerships that unlock the potential of American Express’ strategic relationships to drive growth and innovation. The team is responsible for defining a multi-year partnership strategy, supporting key negotiations and projects, and driving new business opportunities globally with our largest Blue Box partners.

The role of Senior Executive Assistant & Strategic Planning Coordinator is a dynamic, fast-paced role that requires an individual who can work independently to provide operational support to the Office of the Chief Partner Officer (CPO) as well as the broader Strategic Partnerships (SP) team. The ideal candidate must have business acumen, impeccable organizational skills, and be effective in building and leveraging relationships at all levels in the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Providing planning and coordination support to the CPO, including business planning, project management, budget management, and leadership of specific initiatives, as required. 
  • Coordinating preparation for the CPO on a day-to-day basis, including requesting and compiling materials, making necessary follow-ups, etc.
  • Connect themes across meetings, stakeholder engagements, and team forums to help surface risks, follow-ups, and opportunities for greater alignment.
  • Making multi-city and international travel arrangements and itineraries, including briefing books with logistics and client briefs.
  • Preparing, reconciling, processing, and approvals of expense reports in line with company and organization requirements using Concur Expense System.
  • Manage key team resources including updating distribution lists, contact lists, organizational charts, PTO tracking, etc.
  • Work closely with the Executive Office team to coordinate CPO office operations.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve team coordination, and strengthen the effectiveness of the CPO office.

Qualifications

  • High intellectual curiosity and interest in building broader leadership, operating, and management capabilities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective verbal and written communications, at all levels of management, colleagues and business contacts, to clearly convey information and/or to influence thinking or action.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work flexibly under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work within deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and execute across multiple initiatives/tasks.
  • Ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve issues with appropriate need for escalation.
  • Operates with a high level of integrity for handling sensitive issues and maintain complete confidentiality.
  • High level of proficiency using MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as internal AXP (or related) tools and systems – WebEx, Zoom, Teams, Slack, Outlook, Ariba, Concur, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and networking skills to build and maintain effective professional relationships across all areas of the organization.
  • Willing to work in the New York offices a minimum of 3-4 days per week.
