Position Summary:
The Senior Materials Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating materials and production activities to meet customer demand in a complex aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely order release, maintains production flow, optimize inventory levels and drives schedule accuracy while supporting continuous improvement across planning and manufacturing processes to meet on time customer delivery commitments
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule customer orders based on demand, production capacity, and operational constraints
- Create and release manufacturing orders aligned with customer requirements and shop load capacity
- Prepare shop headers and manage routing documentation for production execution
- Coordinate planning of subcomponents and assemblies to support overall delivery schedules
- Maintain and manage release files to ensure proper sequencing of manufacturing lots
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of customer change requests within the system
- Review daily production reports to monitor schedule adherence and drive improvements
- Identify and resolve material shortages, implementing corrective actions as needed
- Develop and maintain electronic routers, including rework routers and in-process planning changes
- Define manufacturing sequences, operations, and workflow requirements
- Develop manufacturing dimensions, tolerances, and detailed work instructions
- Ensures accurate sequencing of orders while optimizing inventory levels
- Maintain ERP/MRP system accuracy, including planning data and daily dispatch lists
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain teams
Required Skills & Competencies
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (intermediate proficiency preferred)
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred
OR - Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in materials planning, production planning, or manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
