The Senior NPD Planner is responsible for supporting supply chain planning and execution activities by identifying and helping resolve supply and demand constraints, improving service levels, and supporting key lifecycle events such as new product launches, item transitions, and inventory management. The Senior NPD Planner will provide feedback and alignment for mid- to long-range planning processes and will be the checkpoint outside of S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning), for the supply chain and business leaders, to ensure improvement plans remain aligned to reality and allow for timely action.
Specific Responsibilities
- Support root cause analysis to identify supply chain risks, service disruptions, and execution gaps, translating insights into actionable recovery plans.
- Support preparation of data, reporting, and insights for S&OE and planning processes (e.g., supply/demand imbalances, service risks, inventory trends).
- Facilitate weekly Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) meeting with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Track and follow up on action items from S&OE and cross-functional meetings to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Provide ongoing support for the E&O process through inventory analysis, exception review, and partnership with Supply Chain, Finance, and MD&P to reduce excess and obsolete exposure.
- Support and review the New Product Development process to highlight areas of opportunity and track customer execution of NPD projects.
- Support planning system activities, including data validation and updates, to ensure accurate inputs for supply chain planning and execution.
- Responsible for identifying inconsistent planning parameters control on discontinued items as part of SKU optimization end of life data integrity.
- Investigate shortfalls, issues, and complaints in current business processes to determine areas of opportunity for process improvement and transformation.
- Support development of training materials for process changes through presentations or training material to train, mentor and guide team members in new processes.
- Help ensure clear decision ownership, communication, and follow‑through across functions to enable timely execution.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree of Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent undergraduate degree, with related work experience
- 2+ years of Supply Chain experience (Supply Planning, Materials Planning, Production Planning, Demand Planning and Fulfillment)
- 2+ years of capacity constrained supply planning and advanced planning systems
Required Competencies
- Working knowledge of interdependencies between functions (commercial, sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, and manufacturing) and the associated cause-and-effect relationships
- Strong understanding of the S&OE process, demand planning, supply and inventory planning, introduction of new products, resource allocation, master production schedule (MPS) and distribution requirement planning (DRP)
- Experience supporting and applying best practices and standard processes in a demand and/or supply planning environment
- Understanding of the requirements of Manufacturing, Logistics, Marketing, Sales, MD&P and Finance
- Ability to support timely decision-making and execution through effective coordination between S&OP and S&OE processes
- Intermediate proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and/or MS Access
- Intermediate proficiency in developing presentations in MS PowerPoint
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels of associates and executives
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
- Strong data management and manipulation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to travel (less than 25%)
